BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

Vote to override veto of health reform bill delayed by snowfall

Employers and others will have to wait until next week for the outcome of a House of Representatives vote to try to overturn President Barack Obama's veto of legislation that would repeal key provisions of the health care reform law.

The House had been scheduled to vote this week to override the veto of budget legislation, H.R. 3762, that would repeal reform law provisions imposing financial penalties on employers not offering coverage; and a provision, due to kick in starting in 2020, that imposes a 40% excise tax on the portion of group health care plan premiums that exceed $10,200 for a single coverage and $27,500 for family coverage.

But due to a storm that dumped more than 2 feet of snow over the weekend in the Washington area, House leaders agreed Monday to delay floor votes until next week.

The House earlier approved the measure with the ACA repeal provisions on a 240-181 vote, while the Senate approved the bill on a 52-47 vote.

Unless Republicans pick up more support, which is not expected, the veto overturn effort will fail. A two-thirds majority of each legislative branch is required to overturn a presidential veto.
