BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

Former CMS head to lead health insurance lobby

Marilyn Tavenner, the former head of the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, will become the new president and CEO of America's Health Insurance Plans, the Washington-based industry group announced Wednesday.

“There is no better individual than Marilyn to lead our industry through the increasingly complex health care transformation that is underway,” Mark Ganz, AHIP board chair and CEO of Cambia Health Solutions Inc., said in a statement. “She has the respect and trust of policymakers and stakeholders from all sides, and a personal commitment to advance meaningful solutions for improving access to quality, affordable care for all Americans.”

Until her resignation earlier this year, Ms. Tavenner, 64, headed CMS for more than three years, starting as acting administrator in December 2011.

Prior to joining CMS, she served as Virginia's secretary of health and human services.

Ms. Tavenner succeeds longtime AHIP head Karen Ignagni, who resigned earlier this year to become, effective Sept. 1, president and CEO of EmblemHealth, a New York-based insurer with 3.2 million enrollees.
