A new documentary, “Growing up Trans,” explores the private lives of eight transgender children as they experience name changes, wardrobe changes, hormone therapy and surgery to become the opposite sex than the one they were born. Since statistics show that children who are gender non-conforming or transgender are at increased risk of attempting or committing suicide during puberty, the goal of the documentary is to educate people who have no connection to trans children about a part of our society that is becoming more visible.
