NEW JOB TITLE: New York-based CEO for Aon Cyber Solutions

PREVIOUS POSITION:New York-based senior adviser, CEO and partner at Tritium Partners L.L.C.

INDUSTRY OUTLOOK: Since cyber affects so many stakeholders in an enterprise, I believe that a technological (SAAS) platform will be required to provide custom tailored services to all of the constituents and enable to them to communicate and coordinate in an efficient manner. I am already noticing forward-thinking companies seeing the value in being more transparent about their technical security measures with the underwriters that provide their insurance premiums.

GOALS FOR NEW POSITION: Our goal at Aon Cyber Solutions is to help organizations change the way they are thinking about cyber risk — from viewing it purely as an IT issue, to seeing it as a risk that affects the entire enterprise. We are focused on assessing an organization’s exposures, and then protecting them with comprehensive proactive and reactive cyber security services that are highly integrated in all facets of the enterprise risk spectrum.

CHALLENGES FACING THE INDUSTRY: The greatest challenge in cyber security for organizations across multiple verticals — ranging from retail banking to payments to healthcare to automotive — is ever-increasing connectivity with customers, which continues to exponentially increase their exposure points. This is one of many factors that means organizations require a more comprehensive and integrated approach to managing cyber risk.

FIRST EXPERIENCE IN THE INDUSTRY JOB MARKET: Sector Compliance Officer for MBNA, running audit compliance and control for fraud loss prevention and credit divisions.

FIRST IMPRESSION OF THE INSURANCE INDUSTRY: I expected a very high caliber of expertise among our employees, given their backgrounds and the high quality of work they do, but I am nonetheless continually impressed by this, and even more importantly (by) their dedication to protecting our clients.

ADVICE: Roll up your sleeves and learn as much as you can from the broadest number of subject matter experts you can. Throughout my career, I have found people are willing to explain what they do and why it is important.

OUTSIDE THE INDUSTRY, A DREAM JOB: I’ve been very fortunate to have had a lot of diverse and interesting experiences in my career — from being a special agent in the FBI, to working with amazing people to found a company, to revolutionizing the payment industry. In all sincerity, the culmination of these experiences has led to my dream role here as CEO of Aon Cyber Solutions.
